What to Pack for Morocco: The Complete Packing List for Women (2026)

What to Pack for Morocco

Morocco is calling, but what's going in your suitcase?

Flowy layers, buzzing souks, stone riads, and lots of walking. From sunny Marrakech to the historic streets of Fez and the cooler Atlas Mountains, Morocco’s weather and culture call for a little smart packing.

Here’s your ultimate Morocco packing guide, with practical tips, stylish essentials, and a few travel must-haves you’ll thank us for later.

What to Wear in Morocco as a Woman: Modest, Stylish & Comfortable

Think flowy, long, and light. For modest clothing Morocco-style, pack:

  • 3–4 loose shirts or tunics

  • 2–3 wide-leg pants or linen trousers

  • 1–2 maxi dresses or skirts

  • An abaya or kaftan, if you love one

  • A couple of lightweight scarves

Travel Tribe Tip: Stick to breathable cotton, linen, and viscose in neutral or earthy tones. They mix and match easily and look gorgeous in photos! Add one elevated outfit for our welcome and farewell dinners, plus a cream, rust, or mustard look or two for Chefchaouen's blue streets.

Linen and abayas crease badly, so pack a travel iron. The travel iron I use is compact and dual-voltage.

Morocco Packing List for November: Weather & Layers

Morocco weather in November means mild days of 65–75°F in Casablanca and Fez, cooler mornings and evenings, and chillier air in Chefchaouen. Stone riads rarely have strong heating, so think early autumn by day and early winter by night.

Layering is the whole strategy:

  • A cardigan or light jacket

  • A pashmina (it doubles as a bus blanket!)

  • Warm socks and warm pajamas

  • Thermal leggings if you run cold

Comfortable Shoes Are Non-Negotiable!

Let's be honest: you'll walk more than you planned. The medina is uneven, damp in places, and full of stairs.

Bring:

  • Broken-in sneakers or supportive walking shoes

  • Easy slip-ons for mosques and riads

  • Blister patches and cushioned socks

Leave the heels and thin soles at home.

Exploring Fez? Here's What to Wear

What to wear in Fez: breathable layers with long, easy lines that won't snag in the car-free alleys. Leave delicate fabrics at home.

What to wear to Hassan II Mosque: long sleeves, full-length bottoms, and a scarf tucked in your day bag. You'll remove your shoes in certain areas, so bring socks you like.

Travel Essentials You Shouldn't Forget

Do I need a plug adapter for Morocco? Yes! Morocco runs on 220V with Type C and E plugs. My adapter covers phones, cameras, and laptops in one piece.

Also pack:

  • A battery pack: Long drives from Casablanca to Fez and Chefchaouen drain phones fast. This battery pack keeps everything alive (carry-on only).

  • An eSIM and a headlamp: For easy landings and dim riad staircases.

  • A dual-voltage hair dryer: A single-voltage US dryer can burn out at 220V. So, try this dual-voltage hair dryer.

  • Disposable travel towels: These disposable travel towels are light, hygienic, and handy for riads and the optional hammam.

  • Dry-air skincare: rich moisturizer, SPF lip balm, and hair oil.

  • Health basics: prescriptions, rehydration packets, and motion-sickness tablets for the winding Rif Mountains drive.

  • A faith kit: travel prayer mat, tasbih, journal, and a qibla app for our halaqah and Quran journaling circle.

A Few Morocco Travel Tips Worth Knowing

Before you go, keep these in mind:

  • Documents: Pack a passport valid six months beyond your dates in your carry-on. Many U.S., U.K., Canadian, and EU travelers need no visa for 90 days, but confirm with official sources.

  • Dirhams: The dirham is a closed currency, so withdraw cash on arrival. Carry small notes for tips, mint tea, and souks, and keep a backup card in a separate bag.

  • Stairs: Riads have steep staircases and no elevators, so choose a soft-sided bag you can carry yourself.

  • Apps: Download offline maps for Fez and Chefchaouen, Google Translate with Arabic and French, and Careem or inDrive for rides.

  • Souk space: Bring a foldable tote and leave a third of your suitcase empty. You'll shop!
